TINY CONDO KITCHEN

The original builder kitchen in this mid-town condo was dated and inefficient with very little storage.  Even though the ceilings are 9 ft. the kitchen only had 30” upper cabinets and a very high bulkhead, large appliances and no corner access, a too high raised bar wall that looked ugly and didn’t function for bar seating.   The objective was to create a comfortable, efficient, spacious yet elegant gourmet kitchen while maximizing space for multi-functions.  The style is eclectic, some traditional elements such as antique sconce light, china cabinet, and open floating niche shelves.  The real inspiration came from the beautiful Fantasy Quartzite countertops.  The paint colour for the room was selected when the countertops were installed so it matches perfectly.

A total gut and remodel included reducing the height of the bulkheads, new cabinets, new smaller appliances, all new flooring in light oak LVP, new baseboards, lighting, light oak base cabinets and Benjamin Moore Calm painted upper cabinets keeps the kitchen soft, yet light.  Positioning a 24” induction cooktop over a 24” convection oven keeps a clean look at the countertops and the pull-out hood above is efficient for venting and lighting.  A 25” workstation sink with the drain at one end allows space under for pull-out waste bins.  The integrated 18” dishwasher is perfect for a single person, and the taller 24” Bosch fridge keeps just as much food storage as the previous 28” fridge.   The soft white quartz backsplash was selected so it doesn’t compete with the other elements.
